Between 2020 and 2024, documented UAV incidents in sub-Saharan Africa increased by 340%. Armed drones have been deployed in conflicts across Libya, Ethiopia, Sudan, Mali, and Nigeria. Sudan itself has experienced drone incidents targeting petroleum infrastructure and military facilities in the Khartoum and Red Sea regions. This domestic context makes ALSERO Protection's work not merely commercial but a matter of national security importance — the division maintains close cooperation with Sudan's national security services under formal public-private partnership agreements.

ALSERO's flagship product — the Protective Shield system — provides multi-layered, city-scale anti-UAV coverage using passive radar detection, frequency-hopping RF disruption, EO/IR tracking, and directed-energy soft-kill effectors. The Port Sudan Protective Shield project is currently the largest civil anti-UAV installation on the African continent, protecting the port within a 12-kilometre radius. The system has logged 1,847 drone detections and 94 active neutralisations — a 100% successful intercept rate on confirmed hostile aircraft.

First-person view (FPV) drones pose a specific challenge because of their high speed, low radar cross-section, and resistance to GPS jamming. ALSERO Protection's Shield-FPV Kit uses AI-based radio-frequency fingerprinting to identify FPV drone signatures within milliseconds and deploy targeted RF neutralisation without collateral disruption to civilian communications. The product is deployed with three African national armed forces and received the Jane's Defence Weekly 'Technology of the Year' commendation in the counter-UAS category in 2024.

Beyond drone countermeasures, ALSERO Protection provides comprehensive physical and electronic security assessments for critical infrastructure: oil pipelines, gold refineries, data centres, ports, and government buildings. Our security engineering team has completed 47 infrastructure vulnerability assessments across Sudan, Chad, Niger, and the UAE since 2021. The division also operates a security advisory practice distributing weekly threat intelligence bulletins to 380 subscribers in government, finance, and energy sectors.
